ROBERTS LIARDON'S GOOF ON SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS

                                           SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS
While reading GOD’S GENERALS by Roberts Liardon, I found the misuse of this term. In Liardon’s attempt to justify Kathryn Kuhlman’s divorce of Waltrip, he labeled those who frown at divorce as self-righteous people.
First, the term self-righteous is never used in relation to believers. Self-righteous is a word used in reference to people who have not accepted Jesus as the way out of sin, that is those who still think that even without Jesus there ‘good works’ is accepted before God (Acts 10:1; Rom. 10:1). But once a person has received Christ, whatever act of righteousness he/she does, whether considered by other Christian group as extremism, is an act onto God. Such does not qualify to be referred to as self-righteousness. For instance, Paul did not call those who refrain from meat in Corinthians church as self-righteous people, but he said their act was onto God (1 Cor. 8:8-13).
Even Jesus commended, in his teachings, those who made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom sake. He never saw them as self-righteous people. If they were, what about Samson, who was asked never to drink win or cut his hair? What of William Braham, according to the the account of Liardon in the same book?
Dedication and commitment defers, and Christians must know this and stop the name callings among it folds. Like I use to say, you can’t be called to be a Nazarite and then begin to leave as ordinary Jew.

EVANG. Ohimai Daniel

THEY ARE NOT CURSED FOR NOT PAYING 'TITHE'!

They are not cursed for not paying tithe!
In the recent time, I have had to argue that Jesus did not condemn tithe and that tithing was a good and necessary thing (Matt.23:23). But today, I intend to talk more on what many pastors used to enforce tithe payment, and that is the fact that anybody that refuses to pay tithe is cursed. That is a lie! Nobody is cursed for not paying tithe. This is a lie from the pit of hell.
But you may be quick to refer to what God says in Malachi 3:8-10. Now we must remember that every law given by God in the Old Testament goes with a curse. In Deut. 27:26, it is written ‘’cursed is the one who does not confirm all the words of this law.’’ In other words, anybody who fails to do, whether as a Jews or Gentiles, is under a curse. But because as New Testament believers we are exempted from the ceremonials laws, Jesus had to do something in Galatians. It reads ‘’for as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse;…Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.’’ (Gal 3:10-13).
There is no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus (Rom 8:1). In this New Testament era, God’s emphasis is on giving, and that must be done willingly. There is no curse anywhere even if I don’t pay one-tenth of my income. But I will keep on paying because God loves a giver, and asks us to give.
Note however that as New Testament believers more is expected of us in terms of giving. The article is not meant to serve a relief to those who naturally don’t like giving. In Acts Chapter 5, Ananias and his wife gave above ten percent from the sale of their property, yet God killed them for lying. The New Testament giving is higher and above tithing. What God does not like is the use of threat which this piece tries to correct.
