MORE RULES FOR HEALTHY LIVING

RULE SEVEN: You have not rested until you lie down.
You do not rest while traveling, on picnic, studying or watching comedy. The rest every gospel minister needs is not guaranteed until he/ she takes some good hours of sleep. A good sleep allows the brain to relax and affords the body the opportunity to regain what it has lost. To take a good sleep means the environment must be calm and sweet. This kind of sleep must be seen as medicine, and as such, no matter how short it last, it must be devoid of disturbance. You could decide to do like Jesus by using solitary points.
Note that the point here is that you have not actually rested until you take a good nap, a good sleep; and you have not slept until you lie flat on a sofa. Don’t sleep in a car, on a hard object, and think you are resting. A sleep must allow your body to relax adequately. Take a nice sleep today.

RULE EIGHT: Take much of liquid than solid food
This rule requires everyone who cares to maintain good health to eat much of liquid food than the solid type. Drink a lot of water, and take much of fruits and vegetables. This would keep the system lubricated, and assist in metabolism. This is the only way, and the best way to maintain the continuous and proper functioning of the body system.
Too much of solid food would clog your system, and weigh you down with lots of weight. Get lighter to improve your health.

THE ELEVEN (11) PRINCIPLES OF FAITH

             FAITH MAINTAINS A JOYOUS COUNTENANCE
How would you claim to have faith when you appear always moody? A heart of faith shows itself through a brighten countenance. The story of Hannah would serve us well on this point. Hannah had the challenge of bearing a child of her own on time. Her mate Peninnah had severally wounded her mind through her attacking attitude. But one day, Hannah decided to take the matter to God in Shiloh. She prayed fervently after which she believed that her request was granted. Let’s examine what the Bible says about Hannah, ‘’and she said let your maidservant finds favour in your sight. So, the woman went her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad.’’ 1 SAMUEL 2:18.
Faith reflects in appearance. When you are not anxious, troubled by circumstance, your face would always radiate it. Faith is not hidden. It resonates in our actions and facial look. A troubled mind begat a sad countenance and the foundation is faithlessness. Do not pretend smile, but rather imbibe faith. Just tell your heart why it needs to depend on God alone. See God as you only option; delete every alternative solution, and you will be on your way to building a great faith in God.

                    FAITH IS SACRIFICE
’By faith Abel offered a more excellent sacrifice than Kain, through which he obtained a witness that he was more righteous , God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.’’ (Heb. 11:4)
You cannot lay any claim to faith when you cannot pay sacrifice for any of your desired blessing. I quite remember a friend in the Scripture Union then who told me that those of our brethren then who spent so long a time praying and fasting do not have faith. According to him, one day’s fast was enough for him to get whatever he wanted from God. Such thinking belongs to the spiritually lazy Christians. Jesus in MATHEW 17:21 told His disciples, ‘’However, this king does not go out except by prayer and fasting.’’  The question we need to ask from that scripture is why did Jesus recommend fasting now when He had initially reviled His disciples for unbelief in verses 17, and 20? The simple answer is that faith is sacrifice.
Why would you subject yourself to hunger for a course you do not believe in? Why should one embark on six days fasting and prayers or one week marathon night vigil if one does not first believe that God hears prayers and that He is alive? Some believers simply cannot suffer their bodies because they are not sure of the benefits they could derive from such exercise. Do you need to tell a good business man to take certain risks and sacrifices to sustain his business empires? You don’t need to because he is sure of the huge benefits derivable from such sacrifice and vice- versa.
For to prove your faith is a necessity for sacrifice. Rev. Uma Ukpai, Nigeria, once states some steps to get your needs met. He calls it the levels of prayer. He says if you pray your needs and there is no answer, fast it; if that did not give the desired change, he said cry your prayers, and so and so forth. The lesson there is that a believer must show his faith through his sacrifice to have his need met. James said that faith without work is dead (JAMES 2:19). Show your great faith by your great sacrifice.
Since I became born again in 1996, I had never done three straight days fasting and prayers. I could do one week as long as I broke the fast every 6pm. But a time came in my life very recently that I had no food to eat for good three days. As a graduate, I was earning a merger sum of N15, 000 as a Secondary School teacher. During those three days, instead of becoming angry with God like I used to do sometimes, I learnt a lesson. The lesson was that I could after all fast for three straight days. Two days later, after I had recovered from the three days hunger strike, I needed a breakthrough. I knew my case was beyond ordinary, so I embarked on three days straight fast with water, though. Few days after the fast ended, I got two job offers. It was a miracle. Praise Jesus!
You cannot lay claim to faith when you have not made the needed sacrifice. Like Bishop Oyedepo always says, what you don’t desire, you do not deserve. How could you say you desire what you cannot pay any price for? Sacrifice does not complement faith; it is not a necessity for faith, rather sacrifice is faith.
Your faith determines the QUALITY of your financial commitment to God. Quality here does not depend solely on size, but also on the level of inconvenience the offering causes us. David said he would not give God what caused him nothing (2Sam. 24:24). ‘’Honour the Lord with your substance, and the first fruit of all you increase.’’(Prov. 3:9).

Understand the Bible's position on women and church leadership

                       WOMAN AND CHURCH LEADERSHIP.
According to 1CORRITHIANS 14:34, the Bible says, ‘’let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them for to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is shame for women to speak in the church. What came the world of God only from you? Or came it unto you only.  There is an underlying truth behind this biblical injunction from Paul. The church of Corinth was heavily blessed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Like the bible tells us in JAMES 1:17, God does not have preference in His dispatch of good gift. So the Corinthian women folk were heavily blessed with diverse gift. This excessive gifting lead to insubordination from them. In most of the church’s services, they indulged in unnecessary arguments, and claims of spiritual information. In spite of the pastor’s effort to put them right, they refused and always claimed that they heard the information from God. But from Paul’s spiritual judgment (1 CORINTHIANS 2:15), their claims were simply heretic. Now, let’s examine the above claim from our text. THE SIGN OF INSUBORDINATION: ‘’but they are commanded to be under obedience’’( verse 34c);
 PRETENSE TO LEARN: ‘and if they will learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home’’( verse 35a);
CLAIMS THAT GOD SPOKE TO THEM: ‘’what? Came the word of God out from you? Or came it unto you only?’’
From the above, it could be said that Paul was not against the Women hearing from God, but they should not claim sole possession of this gift. Consequently, Paul was clearly admonishing women to learn. They must not feel that possession of the Holy Ghost or some Spiritual gift is an alternative to knowledge. It is an admonition to all Christians that knowledge supersedes even spiritual gifts. It is the ultimate. But if a woman had taken time to learn under an experience tutor, then what stops her from teaching.
Note that Paul was not trying to introduce man’s supremacy into Christian worship. He was only admonishing all to learn. In 1 TIMOTHY 2:11, he shows how they must learn. It reads, ‘’let the women LEARN in silence with all subjection.’’ The learning period must be a time of obedience and silence. And why should she learn if she is forbidden or not allowed to teach what she had been taught. Every woman who has taken time to learn can become a teacher herself.

WOMEN AND OPEN HEAD IN CHURCH
Many pastors have simply taken this injunction for granted because they have become so used to the Grace gospel. But we must not forget that the same Paul who could be said to be the apostle of faith, the same gave this injunction. Believers must not forget that the power of faith does not go beyond here. Faith is so powerful that even native doctors and robbers used it to get whatever they need from God, but on the judgment day, faith would not stand but obedience.
We must remember that on the last day, even people who used the Name of Jesus for some great works could get ‘I know you not’ from Christ. Samuel told Saul, to obey is better than sacrifice (1SAMUEL 15:22). I went straight to give admonition without first declaring my stand on this issue because I think the subject is simple enough for every so called man of God, unless we simply claim what we are not. Majority of pastors are not in confusion as to what the passage is all about. The problem is purely spiritual arrogance.
For those who don’t have clear picture of that Bible passage, let’s throw some light.
1 CORINTHIANS 11:2-16: ‘’But I would have you know , that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of every woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. But every woman that prayeth or prophsieth with her head uncorvered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all as if she were shaven. For if a woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, for as much as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. For the man is not of the woman, but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman but the woman for the man. For this cause ought the woman to have power over her head because of the angels. Nevertheless, neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord for as the woman is of the man, even so is the  man by the woman; but all things are of God. Judge in yourselves is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man has long hair, it is a shame unto him? But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.’’
The apostle started by showing why the woman should cover her head and why the man should leave his head uncovered. He said because the head of the man is Christ, and the head of the woman, man. He did not give clear details of the origin of the teaching, but says the only condition why a woman would not cover her head is when the woman decides to shave it completely, (Verse 6).
The import of this is that Paul asks women to cover their HAIR and not their SKULL. So it is wrong for women to now think that their long hair would do the covering. No! Paul is saying that your so called long hair smells before God when it is not covered. Otherwise, you must shave it and appear bald skull before GOD. But in verse 15, he reasons that no woman should take the option of shaving her hair since that same hair is for her beauty outside the church. The covering is necessary for the angel’s sake (verse 10)

FAITH IS WISDOM

1
Image result for PICTURE OF A PASTOR

For sometime now we have been looking at the Principles of faith. Today, we shall consider two more important Principles of faith. Happy reading!

                                                                            FAITH IS WISDOM
Faith is not confrontational; faith does not tempt God. In fact faith runs away from danger. A man of faith is a man full of wisdom. Solomon is one of the most wise man that ever lived. He was a man of faith. Do you know that it was through dream God spoke to Solomon and granted him wisdom? It was not a physical encounter yet, yet Solomon called his friends for celebration (1 king 3:1-14). Can you beat that? He believed even though it was just a dream.
Some Christians claim they could confront armed robbers bare-handed because they have ‘faith’. Others don’t mind what they drink and eat because ‘they can never be sick’. Foolish! Several accounts abound of Jesus running away from danger. In MATTHEW 4:7 when the devil required Him to jump from the pinnacle of the temple because God promised to give His angels charge over Him, Jesus reply was ‘’it is written again, you shall not tempt the Lord your God.’’
Faith does not expose us to danger; it keeps us from danger. Faith is wisdom.
Wisdom for a child of God entails the following
i)                  Avoiding dangerous situations and places (Mark 3:6,7; Prov. 17:12).
ii)               Undertaking regular exercise for well-being of the body ( 1Tim. 4:8)
iii)            Eating adequate/ balanced diet (Ecc. 10:16-17; 1 Cor. 6:13).
iv)            Regular medical checkup.
v)               Taking adequate rest (Mark 6:31).
Any Christian who does not regularly involve in these acts of wisdom would surely be sickly, less productive, and eventually dies. Such a child of God is unwise.
                            FAITH IS DILIGENCE
Lazy people have no place in the school of faith. Faith makes a complete man. One important feature of faith that we must not fail to consider is HARD WORK. Every faithful disciple must, as a matter of duty, be hardworking. In fact the book of 1 TIMOTHY 5:8 says when you lack the capacity to cater for your family, you have rejected the faith. Faith is never weak -handed, rather it provides its food in season. Be it in school, in business and in ministry; men of faith are distinguished by uncommon results.
Faith can never be idle; it does not return from work until in the evening. A man of faith does not select what to do. He can do anything, no matter how meager, and yet produce unbeatable result. Joseph’s life exemplifies faith portrayed through hard-work. How would a young man refuse to compromise his integrity in a foreign land even when it seemed God had forsaking him if not that he was a man of faith. Even amidst such pitiable condition, his employers could not ignore his superb contributions at work (GENESIS 39:1-4).
‘’seeth thou a man diligent in his business? He will seat with kings and not with mean men’’ (Prov. 22:29). Diligence delivers to God’s children undeniable and unbeating result. There is no alternative to diligence in the school of success. Diligence gives us access to the hidden treasure of heaven. The treasures of life can only be accessed through diligence.
